Devchand College accredited as A grade college by NAAC with CGPA 3.07....congratulations to all stakeholders

Conselling is done by a special cell in terms of following :

Academic Counselling: The admission committee gives academic counseling to students at the time of admission at the beginning of every academic year in the choice of subjects considering their need, performance in the previous examination and interest. The faculty in all the departments monitors their academic progress throughout the year. Formal and informal interactions help identify their strengths and weaknesses and provide guidance accordingly. Unit tests and open-book tests help the faculty to do academic counseling.
ii) Personal counselling: Earlier the faculty of the college carried out the responsibility of taking personal care of students on the individual level. Heads of departments were looking after the welfare of students by providing necessary guidance and assistance. This culture of personalized relationship is changed into a personal care delivery system- student mentoring scheme- in the year 2015-16 for part-I students of UG and PG courses. Mentoring of the PG students is done at the departmental level. This has intensified our efforts at holistic development of the students. Under this scheme, 25-30 students are assigned to the faculty who look after their personal, academic and psychological well-being. The faculty meet their mentees periodically, understand and analyze their problems and provide solutions. Slow learners are referred to remedial coaching cell and students with psychological problems are referred to student counselling cell.  This scheme has benefitted students in every respect. It will help reduce drop-out rate also.
iv)Psychological Counselling: Students’ counseling Cell is functioning for solving students’ psychological problems. One of the members of this committee is a professional psychologist. The cell tries to rehabilitate students suffering from psychic problems. The specific problems were the problem of study habits, social behaviour problem,  phobia, phobia related to examination, anxiety and depression, lack of confidence , time management for study purposes, concentration problem, etc.

The college has a separate womens’ forum called Swayamsiddha, which is proactive and nurtures personality of female students. Separate grievance redressal cell is formulated by college and grievances, if any, are resolved by the cell.   Statistically, the number of female students is increasing. Women’s forum ‘Swayamsiddha’ organizes different awareness programs for female students and staff. The women teachers are proactive as far as the equality issues are concerned. They keep an eye on the gender sensitive issues and resolve the problems in view of gender sensitivity, gender equality, women exploitation and security.

Through Swayamsiddha Womens Forum’ the college conducts various programs to create awareness among the students about gender equality, gender sensitization, human rights, legal rights of women, self defence etc. Drop out of girls due to marriage are tackled by convincing them and their parents.
